Get Familiar with his voice

There was a time when I wondered why he didn’t speak to me. It went from me merely asking a question to literally crying out for him and nothing! Or so I thought…

When I say him, I mean God. I was in a place where I wanted to hear from him, and I could not understand why he would not respond. I later realized he was answering me; I just couldn’t hear him above the noise.

When I say “noise” I’m referring to pride, fear, and doubt (as my sistor (no typo) Millie Max so eloquently put it in our bible study group). The noise that I created myself and though only I could hear this noise it was so loud! Loud enough that when  God answered my questions, my calls, and my cries, I could not listen to him.

After a lot of prayer, I began to seek him more, and I became intentional in my efforts to hear his voice. I was able to eliminate some of the noise I created myself and some of the noise the enemy had placed in me, and I began to hear him. Once I became familiar with his voice, I was able to realize that he’d been speaking to me all along.

Have you ever been in a restaurant or location where you’re talking to a friend, and although it’s loud you still seem to be able to have a conversation or share a few words? You don’t even have to yell you might even whisper or you move in a bit closer and lower your voices to hear each other better, and somehow it works? It’s because you know their voice. Now that I am establishing my relationship with God and allowing my ears to be open to him, I can sometimes hear him through the “noise.” Yeah, we’re cool like that.

I want to encourage those of you who are seeking answers or words from God and are feeling like you can’t hear his voice to eliminate the noise in your life and familiarize yourself with his voice. Get personal with him like you would with any friend and one day you will be able to hear his voice. The closer you get to him, the clearer his voice will be.  The Time is NOW!

Exactly… Exactly… Exactly! Well written! Sometimes He responds loudly ( after His whispers don’t get through) but most of the time He whispers and we have to learn how to hear His voice through all of the noise that we allow to surround us. he has nothing to do with all that noise…

I don’t know how I missed this email, but I read it at the perfect time. I just recently found a church home and I’ve been attending bible study every week since. I must say….building my relationship with God has given me a peace within my spirit that I never felt before and it’s so so priceless. Thank you for that tip. My whole life was noise for a good portion of time and your words described my feelings perfectly. Keep creating girl!
